River Cats Lose Late to Chihuahuas
|
At Southwest University park, the Sacramento River Cats and El Paso Chihuahuas were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Sacramento River Cats got a superb performance from pitcher Bryan Townsend, but the El Paso Chihuahuas still won the game, 5-3. Townsend threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The win went to Jon Hodge in relief, making him now 1-1. Chase Allen took the loss for Sacramento.
El Paso took a 5-3 lead on Ricardo Mendoza's 23rd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Mendoza hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Sacramento pitcher Chase Allen visibly frustrated.
"I always go out there hoping to contribute," said Mendoza.
The third-place Chihuahuas bumped their record to 68-68.
