Isotopes Score Late to Win, 8-3
|
The Fresno Grizzlies could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Seth Tindel into a win. Instead, the Albuquerque Isotopes prevailed, 8-3, in 10 innings. Tindel threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Jimmy Kaufmann, now 5-5, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. With the win, the Isotopes improved to 72-65.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Aaron Cruse came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Fresno pitcher Jadon Hill, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Albuquerque on top, 4-3.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Cruse told the Albuquerque Chronicle.
