Sky Sox Shimmy Past Cubs, 2-1
|
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox relied on a great performance from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Nick Mulcahey to beat the Iowa Cubs, 2-1, in 10 innings at Security Service Field. With the victory, the Sky Sox record stands at 79-60.
The decisive blow was delivered by Eric Fitzsimons in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Aaron Clay to win the game for Colorado Springs. The home crowd went nuts.
Fitzsimons attributed the win to "making big pitches in big moments."
