River Cats Sting Chihuahuas, 5-0
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
Sacramento turned a good effort from starter Steve Powers into a win over the El Paso Chihuahuas at Raley Field. The final score was 5-0. Powers went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 12-12.
In the bottom of the second, Sacramento third baseman Antonio Corral had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Corral stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 2-0, Sacramento. For the game, he went 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Powers said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
