In 10, El Paso Beats Sacramento, 1-0
|
The El Paso Chihuahuas snuck past the Sacramento River Cats, 1-0, in 10 innings. El Paso pitcher Eric Owens, in particular, had a standout performance. Danny Miranda, now 5-2, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. El Paso is now 70-69, Sacramento 70-69.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when El Paso third baseman Kurt Jones, facing Colin King, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Chihuahuas the 1-0 win.
"To become 'battle-tested,'" said Jones, "you need to compete in this kind of contest."
