River Cats Take Down Chihuahuas, 9-5
|
The Sacramento River Cats topped the El Paso Chihuahuas by a score of 9-5. Leading the way was third baseman Chris Strong. Strong was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the River Cats. Sacramento reliever Josh Burr picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Aaron D'Uva took the loss. Sacramento has now won 4 straight, while the Chihuahuas have lost 4 in a row.
Sacramento took control in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, Josh Layne hit a 2-run single to make it 7-5, River Cats.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Layne, "one at-bat at a time."
