The Winston-Salem Dash topped the Carolina Mudcats by a score of 9-3. Leading the way was third baseman Rich Sulla. Sulla went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Dash. The win gives Winston-Salem a record of 1-1.

The Dash got a big hit from center fielder Ernesto Morin. Facing Carolina pitcher Jeff Nicoletti in the bottom of the sixth, Morin pounded a bases-clearing triple to left-center. His 1st triple of the season put the Dash ahead, 9-2.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Sulla told the Winston-Salem Daily.
