Red Sox Collect 2-1 Win Over Dash
|
Winston-Salem got a valiant performance from pitcher Alfredo Arredondo, but it wasn't enough to beat the Salem Red Sox. Salem won the game, 2-1. Arredondo threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The defeat makes Winston-Salem 0-2.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Salem first baseman Jose Roman, facing Taylor Phillips, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Red Sox the 2-1 win.
"The fact of the matter is that we had a shot to win," said losing manager Sam Simmons.
