In a low-scoring game between Winston-Salem and Carolina, pitcher Tony Vazquez was excellent. The Winston-Salem right-hander helped his team knock off the Mudcats, 2-1. Vazquez yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. The win puts Winston-Salem at 2-1.

Adão Benido had a big run-scoring double for the Dash in the bottom of the second inning. With Winston-Salem leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a splitter from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jose Rumbo and swatted a double to right. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dash ahead, 2-0.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Benido told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
