Dash Need Extra Frames to Get Past Nationals
|
The home team gave the crowd some walk-off drama.
Despite a great performance by Potomac second baseman Justin Seman, the Winston-Salem Dash defeated the Nationals by the score of 5-4 in 10 innings at BB&T Ballpark. Seman was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Winston-Salem reliever Luis Fernandez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mario Escala took the loss.
The Dash got a clutch hit from pinch hitter Brian Whitfield. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Dash.
In postgame comments to the Winston-Salem Bulletin, Whitfield said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
With the loss, Potomac sinks to 1-2.
