The Norfolk Tides downed the Durham Bulls, 10-7. The hitting star was first baseman Bob Monson. Monson was 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Tides. Norfolk reliever Jon Yulfo was the winner. His record is now 4-4. The losing pitcher was Brian Mellies. The first-place Tides have won 4 straight.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With two out, Monson hit a fastball from Brian Mellies for a 3-run home run. The Tides, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Monson. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
