Braves Beat Clippers, 7-5
|
The Gwinnett Braves trumped the Columbus Clippers, 7-5, at Coolray Field. Gwinnett shortstop Roy Fontaine was terrific. He went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs. Columbus, at 31-46, has lost 4 straight.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Fontaine delivered big-time for Gwinnett, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Zach Cooper. The game-changing hit put the Braves on top, 6-5.
In postgame comments to the Gwinnett Gazette, Fontaine said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
