Braves Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Clippers, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Gwinnett Braves and the Columbus Clippers, Dana Rider was the X factor. The Gwinnett right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Rider got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. With the win, Gwinnett boosts its record to 9-9.
David Valera, who is tied for 4th in the IL in bases on balls with 11, had a direct impact on the outcome. Valera contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Gwinnett up, 2-1.
"That was a really good outing by Dana," said Gwinnett manager Danny White.
