Red Sox Upend RailRiders, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Pawtucket Red Sox and the Scranton WB RailRiders, pitcher Raul Santiago was the difference between victory and defeat. The Pawtucket right-hander earned accolades in the 3-2 Red Sox win. Santiago got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. Santiago allowed 1 run. Juan Cortez earned the save for Pawtucket, his 2nd of the year.
Pawtucket used the timely hitting of Dan Ware to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Red Sox on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It feels good to get this one," Santiago told the Pawtucket News.
Pawtucket, at 41-38, holds down 4th place in the North Division.
