IronPigs Score Late, Clip Bisons, 2-1
|
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Roger (Eben) Penn to a win, beating the Buffalo Bisons, 2-1, at Coca-Cola Park. The IronPigs saw their record improve to 33-50.
Had Andy Jenkins not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Jenkins hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the IronPigs.
"Roger (Eben) was commanding his pitches," said Lehigh Valley manager Bryce Bissinger.
