Conditions were not ideal but Charlotte and Norfolk were able to put their game in the books.

The Charlotte Knights relied on the hitting of second baseman Alberto Hernandez to stop the Norfolk Tides, 7-3. For the game, Hernandez was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Charlotte pitcher Brian Alvarez got the win. He's now 5-6. Aaron Hayhurst was tagged with the loss.

In the top of the third of a scoreless game, Hernandez hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Hernandez said.

Charlotte, now 53-32, holds down first place in the South Division.
