|
In a low-scoring game between the Indianapolis Indians and the Toledo Mud Hens, pitcher Preston Berrie was masterful on the mound. The Indianapolis right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Berrie, now 4-5. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 8. Pat Utterback earned his 11th save in 16 chances.
Carlos Martinez, the 26-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Martinez contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Indianapolis up, 2-0.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Berrie.
The second-place Indians now have a win-loss record of 46-40.
