5 Straight Wins for Bats
|
The Louisville Bats beat the Columbus Clippers, 6-3, at Huntington Park. Louisville designated hitter Kevin Martin had an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Mike Oestreich. His record now stands at 6-3. The right-hander went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits for the Bats. The first-place Bats have a record of 54-33.
Louisville used the timely hitting of Bobby Felton to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bats on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Louisville manager Isaac Moles was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard," he said.
