Indians Pull Out Late-Game Win, 5-4
|
The Indianapolis Indians cut down the Syracuse Chiefs by the score of 5-4, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Pat Peterson. Peterson was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times for the Indians. With the win, Indianapolis is 6-12.
Indianapolis used the timely hitting of Miguel Patlan to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Indians on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Indianapolis manager Rene Almanza commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
