Chiefs Win, Laureano goes 3-for-3
|
The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Scranton WB RailRiders, 6-5, at NBT Bank Stadium. Syracuse catcher Salvador Laureano led the way. He was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win was credited to 23-year old right-handed pitcher Elliott Bogart in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Johnny Moore took the loss. The save was credited to Alvin Janosky, his 11th.
John Calvin had a big run-scoring double for the Chiefs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Syracuse leading 5-2 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Glenn Roehl and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 6-2.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Calvin.
The first-place Chiefs, at 46-44, now lead their division by 2 games.
