Indians Decked By Mud Hens, 12-1
Spirited fans greeted the Indianapolis Indians for their clash with the Toledo Mud Hens.

The Toledo Mud Hens soundly defeated the Indianapolis Indians, 12-1, at Victory Field, with right fielder Brian Patrick a major reason why. He was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 4 times and driving in 2 for Toledo. Jules Carson went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits. The left-hander struck out 8 and walked 5. With the win, he ups his record to 7-8 this season.

Toledo won the game in part because of Alex Mata. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Mud Hens ahead, 2-0. For the game, Mata had 1 double and 1 home run in 2 at-bats.

"What a lackluster performance," lamented losing manager Rene Almanza.

The Mud Hens bumped their record to 52-42 with this win.
