The Charlotte Knights beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs by a score of 6-3. Charlotte first baseman Ben Reiners deserved the lion's share of the credit. Reiners went 2-3 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Knights. Brian Alvarez, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 7-6. Picking up the save was Antonio Gonzalez, his 9th.

Reiners contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Charlotte in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Reiners took a sinker from Joe Curran and stroked the double to right-center. His 18th double of the season allowed the Knights to leap in front, 2-1.

"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Reiners.

The win puts the Knights at 60-35, while the IronPigs drop to 23-72.
