Bats Score Late to Nip Chiefs, 6-5
|
The Louisville Bats topped the Syracuse Chiefs, 6-5, in International League action at Louisville Slugger Field. The standout performance belonged to Louisville pitcher and New York, native Dan Berry. Willie Morel got credit for the win, improving to 2-3. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. Louisville is now 55-40.
John Hamlin was the walk-off hero for Louisville. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Bats second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Berry said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
