Bats Knock Off Bulls, 3-2
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Louisville Bats and Durham Bulls.
The Louisville Bats topped the Durham Bulls, 3-2, in International League action at Louisville Slugger Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Louisville pitcher Donovan Simms. Simms, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Mario Rangel earned the save for Louisville, his 4th of the year.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Bats had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when first baseman Jim Hall hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Tony Severs and made the score 3-2, Bats. Hall went 2 for 4 with a double.
"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Louisville manager Isaac Moles.
The Bulls, now 7-13, continue their slow start.
