Esker Leads Chiefs to Win
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Pat Esker, the Syracuse Chiefs defeated the Toledo Mud Hens, 7-4. Esker was 3-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. The Chiefs now have a record of 52-46 with the win over Toledo.
David DeMaio produced at a critical juncture for Syracuse. It happened in the top of the ninth with Federico Rodriguez on the mound and Syracuse leading 5-4. That's when the 26-year old third baseman DeMaio drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," DeMaio told the Syracuse Gazette.
