IronPigs Earn 3-2 Win Versus Mud Hens
|
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs earned a close win over the Toledo Mud Hens, thanks in part to Fernando Tarango. The Lehigh Valley right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the IL in complete games with 3, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Marco Garcia claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 5-5. At 45-57, Lehigh Valley is in 5th place in the North Division.
When he batted in the bottom of the ninth, Juan Gutierrez had a golden opportunity to change the game's outcome. Toledo pitcher Jose Oscal was determined not to let him. But with no outs, Gutierrez hit a sacrifice fly -- and the IronPigs had a suspense-filled triumph.
"This place went bonkers," Tarango said.
