Clippers Come Up Short at Pawtucket, 6-5
The Pawtucket Red Sox turned back the Columbus Clippers, 6-5, at McCoy Stadium. Steve McReynolds, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Brandon Bingaman picked up the win, lifting his record to 3-6 on the season. He struck out 4 and walked 2 in 7 innings, while yielding 4 runs. Carlos Lorenzo finished the game for Pawtucket and earned his 2nd save.

Had Mike McMillen not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, McMillen hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Red Sox.

"Nice win for us," said McReynolds. "Now we'll go after the next one."

Pawtucket now sits at 52-52, while Columbus falls to 46-58.
