Thanks in large part to catcher Melvin Sanchez, the Gwinnett Braves beat the Indianapolis Indians, 9-4. Sanchez went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The last-place Braves hiked their record to 54-52.

Ryan Leese had a big 2-run double for the Braves in the bottom of the first inning. With Gwinnett leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Billy de Soto, who is tied for 6th in the IL in strikeouts with 130, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Braves ahead, 5-0.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Sanchez said.
