Braves Handle Indianapolis, Snag 4-3 Win
|
Javier Spiridon was a major contributor to the 4-3 Gwinnett win over Indianapolis. The Braves right fielder went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Gwinnett starter Marc Anderson was credited with the win after throwing 105 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 6-11. Earning his 3rd save for Gwinnett was Ivan Trevino.
The Indians had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Braves going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old third baseman Brice Post came to the plate. Post hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 fastball from Indianapolis hurler Jonathan Walls. It was Post's 26th double of the year.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Spiridon.
After today's action, Gwinnett sits at 58-47; Indianapolis slips to 52-54.
