Gwinnett center fielder Orlando Venni had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Venni went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Indianapolis beat the Braves, 8-6. The winner in relief was Ben Minnich. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 3-3. Picking up the save was Justin LaRose. He's now 4 for 8 in save chances.

Miguel Mondragon delivered a big hit for Indianapolis. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Indians ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"In this profession, you've got to put the good and the bad behind you quickly," Gwinnett skipper Danny White said.

Today's win puts Indianapolis at 53-54, while Gwinnett falls to 58-48.
