IronPigs Handed 4-1 Loss by Clippers
|
The Columbus Clippers beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 4-1, at Huntington Park. Starting pitcher David Avery was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Jeremy Bess earned his 1st save, after closing out the game. The Clippers now have a record of 50-57 with the win over Lehigh Valley.
Mike Tamburello was 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 3 runs for Columbus. The 29-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off John Curtis. It was his 48th hit of the season.
Afterward, Clippers manager Dan Goldthwaite said, "We had some good at-bats, some big at-bats in some key situations."
