Buffalo designated hitter Joe Ray had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Ray went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times, even as Toledo beat the Bisons, 8-5. David Thibeaux was credited with the save for Toledo, his 2nd of the season. Even with the win, it has been a disastrous start to the year for the Mud Hens, who once had aspirations of returning to the playoffs. Now, they find themselves mired in last place at 5-15.

Toledo relied on the bat of Lazaro Rodriguez to get the win. The second baseman ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mud Hens ahead, 5-1. For the game, Rodriguez had 1 double and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.

"It's a long season," said Rodriguez. "We'll keep working to improve."
