Red Wings Rally to Win
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Coca-Cola Park.
The Rochester Red Wings beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 9-8, in 12 innings. Rochester first baseman Kevin Moore, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Chad Coslow closed it out for his 1st save.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Joe Dougherty came to bat in the top of the 12th. Facing Lehigh Valley pitcher Ryan Hill, he hit a 2-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Rochester on top, 8-7.
"Baseball is a wild game -- a crazy game, sometimes," said Dougherty.
The first-place Red Wings hiked their record to 60-50.
