Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Knights
|
The Charlotte Knights weathered an outstanding game by Norfolk second baseman Aaron Rego to topple the Tides, 5-3. Rego was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Charlotte is now 70-41, 6 games up in the South Division.
Charlotte needed the clutch hitting of Travis De Angelis to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Knights on top, 5-3. For the game, De Angelis had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Knights manager Zach Strecker, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
