Chiefs Get Past Pawtucket for 10-9 Win
The Syracuse Chiefs stopped the Pawtucket Red Sox, 10-9, at NBT Bank Stadium. The Chiefs got a big game from Jared White, who was 4-5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Alvin Mendez in relief. His record improves to 9-6. Josh Richards took the loss. The Chiefs, at 60-52, sit in second place in the North Division.

Had Kevin Lyons not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Lyons hit a 2-run single. That made the score 10-8, in favor of the Chiefs.

"They played a better game than we did," said Pawtucket skipper Philip Vasquez.
