The Toledo Mud Hens defeated the Columbus Clippers, 7-4. Doing his part was designated hitter Tomoshi Matsuo, who went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Casey Derr, now 4-4, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Federico Rodriguez was credited with the save, his 4th in 4 tries.

Oscar Torres had a big 3-run home run for the Mud Hens in the bottom of the first inning. With Toledo trailing 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Miguel Vera and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mud Hens ahead, 3-1.

"Win or lose," Torres reflected afterward, "baseball is a beautiful game."

The second-place Mud Hens raised their record to 58-55.
