Victory Pushes Braves Record to 56-56
|
The Gwinnett Braves took Durham pitcher Tony Severs's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Coolray Field. The final score had Gwinnett getting past the Bulls, 4-2. Severs went 6.2 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 11. Josh Montgomery was the winner. He's now 2-3. The loser was Tony Severs. With the win, Gwinnett raised its record to 56-56.
The Braves got a big at-bat from first baseman Jeff Campanile. For the game, Campanile was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Gwinnett a 4-0 lead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Gwinnett skipper Danny White. "I can't complain."
