IronPigs Knock Off Red Wings, 2-0
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Rochester Red Wings and Lehigh Valley IronPigs get after it.
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs downed the Rochester Red Wings, 2-0, at Coca-Cola Park. Stellar pitching by Dan Huckaby had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Huckaby, now 4-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Nate Williams picked up his 16th save of the season.
Lehigh Valley second baseman Marco Calderon landed a blow when he belted a solo home run in the bottom of the third. It was his 8th home run of the season. With it, the IronPigs took a 2-0 lead.
"We found a way to win tonight," Huckaby said.
The IronPigs raised their record to 53-61.
