Knights Sneak By Bulls, 7-6
|
Knights first baseman Josh Phillips left his mark on his team's 7-6 win over the Durham Bulls. Phillips, who is tied for 9th in the IL in home runs with 15, went 2 for 2 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Charlotte in the contest. The winner was Charlotte reliever Jason Brown, now 4-3. The loser was Ken Brusky. The second-place Knights now have a win-loss record of 54-60.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Charlotte trailing 6-5, Phillips jumped on a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Ken Brusky and hit a 2-run home run to left-center. With one swing, the Knights had a walk-off win.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Phillips.
