In a low-scoring contest between the Charlotte Knights and the Norfolk Tides, Danny Torres was the X factor. The Charlotte left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Torres got the win, improving to 8-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Corey Smith, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.

Had Tony Bernal not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Bernal hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Knights.

"Wins don't come easy," Bernal told the Charlotte Daily News. "They don't just hand them out like lollipops."

The first-place Tides now sit at 66-48.
