Beat Goes On for Knights, Win 1-0 Over Bulls
|
The Durham Bulls wasted an inspired, 7-inning effort from starter Sam Johnson, falling 1-0 to the Charlotte Knights at BB&T Stadium. Kevin Brodnik earned the win for Charlotte. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 8. With the win, he raised his record to 9-6. Tristen Campbell collected his 9th save.
In the bottom of the fifth, Charlotte third baseman Travis De Angelis had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 2nd and no one out, De Angelis stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 1-0, Charlotte. For the game, he went 1 for 3.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," De Angelis told the Charlotte News.
The first-place Knights have won 7 straight.
