Matt Engel pitched well, but his team, the Gwinnett Braves, still dropped a 4-2 decision to the Syracuse Chiefs at NBT Bank Stadium. Syracuse reliever Mario Gutierrez snagged the win, upping his record to 3-1. Matt Engel shouldered the loss. The save went to Bryan Trevino, his 10th this season.

Zachary Anderson had a big 2-run home run for the Chiefs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Syracuse leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Matt Engel and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Chiefs on top, 4-0.

"Winning never gets dull," said Anderson.

With the win, Syracuse pushed its record to 61-55.
