Joe Long pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Scranton WB RailRiders, despite Long's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Charlotte Knights at PNC Field. The winner in relief was Santiago Aguilera. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. He now owns a record of 7-1. Antonio Gonzalez sewed up the save, his 13th.

Ben Reiners, the 28-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Reiners contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Charlotte up, 2-0.

"Tough loss," said Scranton WB manager Justin Brock. "But we'll learn from it."

The Knights have an impressive 74-42 record.
