Buffalo starter Denny Gurganus pitched effectively against the Charlotte Knights at BB&T Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-0. Mike Carey earned save number 24 this season. Buffalo, at 62-54, occupies third place in the North Division.

Gurganus picked up the win. He's now 11-8, after putting the Charlotte offense in the deep freeze. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed no earned runs on 4 hits.

"Denny's stuff looked really, really crisp," said Casey Bac, the Bisons manager.
