Ryan Staples left his imprint on the 8-2 Columbus win against the Syracuse Chiefs. Staples, who is tied for 9th in the IL in home runs with 16, went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a triple, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 6. Miguel Baena picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 9-8. Luis Ruiz, who is tied for 9th in the IL in wins with 9, was tagged with the loss. Dustin Cox, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.

Columbus grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Staples hit a 3-run home run off Luis Ruiz. His 16th home run of the season put the Clippers out in front, 5-2.

Staples told the Columbus Observer: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."

The loss makes Syracuse 78-40.
