Clippers Chop Down RailRiders, 2-0
|
The Scranton WB RailRiders were defeated, 2-0, by the Columbus Clippers at Huntington Park, even though Mike Rice pitched well for Scranton WB. The last-place Clippers now have a record of 52-69.
The RailRiders had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Clippers going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 28-year old first baseman Mike Tamburello came to the plate. Tamburello hit a run-scoring double on a 0-1 fastball from Scranton WB hurler Mike Rice. It was Tamburello's 10th double of the year.
"Scoring was at a premium tonight," Tamburello said.
