IronPigs Best Knights in Pitching Duel
|
Tony Coronado pitched well, but his team, the Charlotte Knights, still dropped a 2-1 decision to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Coca-Cola Park. Rich Gilbert converted his 20th save in 31 tries. The win elevated the IronPigs to 62-60.
The IronPigs got a big at-bat from second baseman Jim Rees. For the game, Rees was 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 18th double of the season gave Lehigh Valley a 2-1 lead.
"That's baseball," said Charlotte manager Arturo de la Rosa. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
