The Indians grabbed a win, 3-2, at BB&T Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Charlotte pitcher Kevin Brodnik. Brodnik went 5.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. The first-place Indians raised their record to 69-55.

Kevin Wallace, the 24-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Wallace contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Indianapolis up, 3-2.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Charlotte manager Zach Strecker. "But we decided not to take it."
