Galvan Helps Chiefs Defeat Clippers, 10-6
|
The Syracuse Chiefs bested the Columbus Clippers, 10-6, at NBT Bank Stadium. Edgar Galvan was one of the standouts. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Reliever Pete Pritchett picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Ivan Espinosa, who is tied for 3rd in the IL in complete games with 5, took the loss. Syracuse now sports a record of 73-52.
Enrique Alamilla had a big grand slam home run for the Chiefs in the bottom of the third inning. With Syracuse leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from Ivan Espinosa, who is tied for 3rd in the IL in complete games with 5, and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Chiefs on top, 5-0.
In comments to the Syracuse Daily, Alamilla admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
