NBT Bank Stadium was the site of a true pitchers' duel.

The Syracuse Chiefs got a magnificent effort from pitcher Alex Gallargo, who kept Columbus hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Chiefs win at NBT Bank Stadium. Gallargo picked up the win for Syracuse, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 11-4. Bryan Trevino finished to wrap up his 2nd save.

Zachary Anderson had a big run-scoring double for the Chiefs in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Syracuse leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from 35-year old left-handed pitcher David Avery and swatted a double to right. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 2-0.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Syracuse manager Mark Holgate.

The first-place Chiefs, at 74-53, now lead their division by 10 games.
