Chiefs Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Clippers, 8-4
Due in large part to second baseman Nick Minford, the Syracuse Chiefs sunk the Columbus Clippers, 8-4. Minford was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Earning the save was Matt Arnett. He's now cashed in 5 of 6 save opportunities. The first-place Chiefs, at 69-58, now lead their division by 3½ games.

Syracuse used the timely hitting of Pat Vinson to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Whenever I help the team," said Vinson, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
