The Pawtucket Red Sox took Buffalo pitcher Bill Higgins's best shot and still were able to claim a win at McCoy Stadium. The final score had Pawtucket getting past the Bisons, 4-3. Higgins went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 8. Pawtucket reliever Allen Reeves picked up the win, raising his record to 4-4. Mario Manzo was tagged with the loss. The loss makes Buffalo 83-45.

Mark Pearson was the walk-off hero for Pawtucket. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Red Sox center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

"This place was rocking at the end," Pearson said.
