Beat Goes On for Indians, Win 3-2 Over Bats
|
The Indianapolis Indians took Louisville pitcher Nick LeBoeuf's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Victory Field. The final score had Indianapolis getting past the Bats, 3-2. LeBoeuf went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 4. Ken Gattenby earned the win for Indianapolis. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 4-1. At 74-55, the Indians find themselves in first place in the West Division.
Akira Nagata had an important at-bat with one out in the bottom of the fourth, when he hit a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season put Indianapolis on top, 3-0.
"I love to hit," said Nagata. "As long as I keep loving it, the game's going to love me back."
