Mendoza has 3 hits, Leads Chiefs to Win
The Syracuse Chiefs did just enough to sneak past the Scranton WB RailRiders, 5-4, at NBT Bank Stadium. Syracuse center fielder Ricardo Mendoza, in particular, had a standout performance. Pete Pritchett earned the save for Syracuse, his 7th. The win puts Syracuse at 70-61 this season.

With Syracuse leading 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Mendoza batted against Scranton WB pitcher Adam Redel. Mendoza hit a sinker to left for a solo home run. His 10th home run of the season put the Chiefs on top, 5-2.

Mendoza told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
